Books for boys

What do BOYS like to read? Most boys like Non-Fiction and Usborne has a wonderful selection to choose from.  As a general rule, if a child is interested in a particular activity or subject - encourage them to read about it and provide them with all sorts of reading materials! Boys also like to discuss the things they read, so ask questions to engage them.

"You may have tangible wealth untold:
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be --
I had a mother who read to me."
~~ Strickland Gillian "The Reading Mother," Best-loved Poems of the American People

This week's literacy tip

"The home is the child's first school, the parent is the child's first teacher, and reading is the child's first subject."
